Overview

Jiannao Yizhi Formula (JYF) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation being investigated for the treatment of cognitive impairment, specifically in Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia. [5] A clinical study comparing JYF to donepezil for mild-to-moderate Alzheimer's disease found that the efficacy and safety of JYF were not inferior to donepezil. [5] The study showed that treatment with the formula increased serum levels of acetylcholine (Ach) and decreased levels of amyloid-β protein 42 (Aβ42) and microtubule-associated protein tau (Tau). [5] Development and clinical research are associated with Chinese institutions, including Wangjing Hospital and Xiyuan Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. [5]
