Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jianpi-Lishi-Huayu Decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by The First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of prostate cancer, particularly castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). The formula is designed based on the TCM principles of strengthening the spleen (Jianpi), draining dampness (Lishi), and resolving blood stasis (Huayu), which are patterns often identified in advanced prostate cancer patients. Mechanistically, the decoction has been shown to inhibit cell proliferation, induce apoptosis, and suppress the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in prostate cancer models. It appears to exert these effects by modulating the androgen receptor (AR) signaling pathway and inhibiting the PI3K/Akt and TGF-beta/Smad pathways. It is typically administered orally as a liquid decoction and is often used as an adjuvant therapy alongside conventional treatments like androgen deprivation therapy (ADT).
