Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jianpi Qinghua granule + omeprazole is a combination therapy being investigated by Xiyuan Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences for the treatment of non-erosive reflux disease (NERD). This regimen combines Jianpi Qinghua (JQ), a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation, with a low dose (10 mg) of the proton pump inhibitor omeprazole. Jianpi Qinghua granule is composed of several herbal ingredients, including *Codonopsis pilosula* and *Atractylodes lancea* (to strengthen the spleen and resolve dampness), *Scutellaria baicalensis* and *Coptis chinensis* (to target damp-heat), and *Sepiella maindroni* (to neutralize stomach acid). The combination is specifically designed for NERD patients presenting with spleen deficiency and damp-heat syndrome according to TCM principles. Clinical trials have demonstrated that this combination may provide superior symptom relief for reflux and heartburn compared to standard-dose omeprazole (20 mg) monotherapy.
