Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jianpi Qushi Heluo Fang (JQHF) is an empirical traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) prescription used clinically in China for the treatment of membranous nephropathy (MN), particularly idiopathic or primary membranous nephropathy. The formula typically contains a combination of herbal ingredients such as Huang Qi (Astragalus membranaceus), Dang Shen (Codonopsis pilosula), Fu Ling (Poria cocos), and others. Preclinical studies suggest that JQHF alleviates renal damage by reducing proteinuria, improving serum albumin levels, and modulating immune function. Mechanistically, it appears to protect against mitochondrial dysfunction and apoptosis in kidney tissue by upregulating autophagy-related pathways—specifically the PINK1/Parkin pathway—and regulating proteins involved in mitochondrial health and cell survival. The exact mechanism remains under investigation but involves modulation of oxidative stress, immune complex deposition, and cellular homeostasis[2][3][6][7].
