Overview
Jianpi Sanjie Formula (JPSJF) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal decoction primarily utilized as an adjuvant therapy for gastrointestinal malignancies, including gastric and colorectal cancers. The formula is designed based on the TCM principles of strengthening the spleen (Jianpi) to bolster the body's 'Zheng Qi' (vital energy) and resolving hard masses or nodules (Sanjie) to counteract tumor progression. Mechanistically, JPSJF has been shown to inhibit tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion by modulating various signaling pathways, such as the PI3K/Akt and Wnt/β-catenin pathways. It is also reported to regulate the tumor microenvironment, enhance immune function by balancing T-lymphocyte subsets, and reduce the systemic toxicity and side effects associated with conventional chemotherapy.
