Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jianpi Shufei Granule is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed for the treatment of early-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), particularly in patients with the TCM syndrome classification of Qi deficiency and phlegm obstruction. The formula is administered as granules and has been evaluated in multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trials for its efficacy in improving symptoms and quality of life in COPD patients. The precise mechanism of action is not fully elucidated by Western pharmacology but, according to TCM theory, it works by strengthening the spleen (Jianpi), dispersing phlegm, and supporting lung function. It does not correspond to a single molecular target or pathway recognized in conventional medicine but rather acts through multi-herb synergistic effects typical of complex TCM formulas[1][2].
