Overview
Jianpi Yanggan Pill is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by The First Affiliated Hospital of Yunnan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D), particularly for patients presenting with the TCM syndrome of Spleen deficiency and Liver stagnation. The formulation is designed to strengthen the Spleen, harmonize the Liver, and stop diarrhea. Mechanistically, the pill is thought to regulate the brain-gut axis, reduce visceral hypersensitivity, and improve intestinal mucosal barrier function by modulating the levels of neurotransmitters like 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) and pro-inflammatory cytokines such as Interleukin-6 (IL-6) and Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α). It is widely used within the developing hospital's clinical practice as an effective internal remedy for functional gastrointestinal disorders.
