Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jianpi Zishen Decoction (JZD) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula primarily used to treat renal damage and proteinuria associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). It exerts its therapeutic effects by modulating immunoinflammation through the inhibition of the TLR4/MAPK signaling pathway. Research indicates that JZD reduces the expression of Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK), c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK), and activator protein 1 (AP-1), thereby decreasing the production of pro-inflammatory factors. In animal models (MRL/lpr mice), JZD has been shown to ameliorate renal pathological changes, reduce glomerular and vascular wall scores, and attenuate IgG and C3 deposition in the kidneys. It also inhibits the proliferation of human mesangial cells (HMCs) stimulated by lipopolysaccharides (LPS).
