Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jianpiliqi (also referred to as JPLQ or Jianpi Liqi Granules) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation derived from the ancient Xiangsha Liujunzi Decoction. It is primarily used for the treatment of functional dyspepsia and related gastrointestinal disorders characterized by symptoms such as epigastric discomfort, bloating, and poor appetite. The formula targets "Qi deficiency" and "dampness retention syndrome" according to TCM theory. Mechanistically, studies suggest that it improves gastrointestinal symptoms by modulating duodenal micro-inflammation and enhancing mucosal barrier function. It has been shown to reduce levels of inflammatory markers such as TLR4 and NF-κB proteins while increasing tight junction proteins like ZO-1 in the gut mucosa[1]. Preclinical research also indicates that it may inhibit corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) expression in both central nervous system and peripheral tissues—thereby participating in brain-gut interactions relevant to functional dyspepsia[4]. Clinical trials have demonstrated improvement in symptom scores for patients with functional dyspepsia after treatment with this formulation[1].
