Jianpixiaozhong

Jianpixiaozhong is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation primarily researched for the treatment of chronic renal diseases, including idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN), multidrug-resistant membranous nephropathy (MDR MN), and primary nephrotic syndrome. The formulation is developed based on the TCM therapeutic principle of 'invigorating the spleen and reducing swelling' (Jianpi Xiaozhong). It typically comprises a combination of medicinal herbs such as *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huangqi), *Atractylodes macrocephala* (Baizhu), *Poria cocos* (Fuling), *Alisma plantago-aquatica* (Zexie), and *Plantago asiatica* (Cheqianzi). Its mechanism of action involves immunomodulation and the regulation of the complement system, which helps protect the glomerular filtration barrier and reduce proteinuria. Jianpixiaozhong is frequently administered as oral granules or a decoction and has been studied as a steroid-sparing agent or an alternative for patients who are refractory to conventional immunosuppressive therapies.
