Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jiashen Tablets (加参片) is an oral, compound traditional Chinese medicine developed by Tasly Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. for the treatment of chronic heart failure, particularly for the pattern of Yang Qi Deficiency with Blood Stasis. [1, 2] It is composed of eight herbal ingredients: Astragali Radix, Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, Periplocae Cortex, Notoginseng Radix et Rhizoma, Leonuri Herba, Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, Cinnamomi Ramulus, and Descurainiae Semen Lepidii Semen. [2, 6] Preclinical studies in rat models have shown that Jiashen Tablets can improve cardiac function, reduce markers of myocardial damage like NT-proBNP, and inhibit myocardial fibrosis. [2] The proposed mechanism of action is complex, involving the regulation of metabolic pathways, including amino acid and lipid metabolism, and the modulation of signaling pathways like PI3K/Akt to exert anti-apoptotic effects. [1, 2, 3] The drug is currently in Phase 2 clinical development for chronic heart failure and coronary artery disease. [1, 9]
