Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jiawei Bushen Yiqi (JWBY) granules, also known as Modified Jiawei Bushen Yiqi Formula (MBYF), is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation composed of five herbs, including *Epimedium brevicornu* Maxim (Herba Epimedii) and *Astragalus membranaceus*. It is primarily investigated for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and lung cancer. The formula is often used as an adjunct therapy to systemic glucocorticoids for acute exacerbations of COPD or as an add-on to inhaled corticosteroids like budesonide/formoterol. Its mechanism of action involves the inhibition of neutrophil chemotaxis and the IL-17 signaling pathway, which helps reduce pulmonary inflammation and airway remodeling. Clinical research has been conducted at institutions such as Huashan Hospital affiliated with Fudan University.
