Jiawei Chaihu Shugan decoction

Jiawei Chaihu Shugan decoction (JWCHSGD) is a modified traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula derived from the classical Chaihu Shugan San. It is primarily utilized and researched for its neuroprotective properties in the treatment of epilepsy (referred to as Xianzheng in ancient Chinese medicine). The decoction's therapeutic effects are attributed to its ability to mitigate necroptosis and inflammation within hippocampal neurons. Mechanistically, JWCHSGD regulates the circRNA-Csnk1g3/Csnk1g3-85aa/CK1γ3/TNF-α signaling pathway, leading to a reduction in the expression of necroptosis markers such as RIP1, RIP3, and MLKL, as well as pro-inflammatory cytokines including TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1β. Experimental evidence suggests it can reduce epileptic discharges and neuronal damage, offering a multi-target approach to managing seizure-mediated brain injury.
