Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jiawei Ershen Wan is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation primarily used to treat chronic diarrhea associated with spleen and kidney yang deficiency, a condition often referred to in TCM as morning diarrhea (Wugeng Xie). It is a modification of the classic Ershen Wan formula, typically incorporating ingredients such as *Psoralea corylifolia* (Bu Gu Zhi), *Myristica fragrans* (Rou Dou Kou), *Schisandra chinensis* (Wu Wei Zi), *Evodia rutaecarpa* (Wu Zhu Yu), *Aucklandia lappa* (Mu Xiang), and *Cinnamomum cassia* (Rou Gui). The formulation works by warming the kidney-yang, tonifying the spleen, and astringing the intestines to arrest diarrhea. Pharmacologically, its botanical components exhibit anti-inflammatory, anti-motility, and gastroprotective effects, helping to regulate intestinal function and alleviate symptoms like abdominal pain, cold limbs, and loose stools occurring in the early morning.
