Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jiawei Guipi Mixture is a modified Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by Shuguang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is based on the classic "Guipi Tang" (Restore the Spleen Decoction) and is specifically formulated for the treatment of primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), particularly the "qi not securing blood" syndrome type. The mixture aims to tonify the spleen, nourish the heart, and supplement qi to prevent bleeding. In clinical trials, it is evaluated as an adjunctive therapy to corticosteroids (such as prednisone) to improve platelet counts, reduce bleeding symptoms, and facilitate steroid tapering by addressing underlying TCM imbalances and potentially modulating vascular endothelial function.
