Overview
Jiawei Guizhi Fuzi Decoction is a modified Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by the Affiliated Hospital of Yunnan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (also known as the Yunnan Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine) for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The formula is an adaptation of the classic Guizhi Fuzi Decoction from the *Shanghan Lun*, which traditionally targets 'Cold-Dampness Obstruction' (Han Shi Bi Zu) patterns. This modified version incorporates additional botanical ingredients to enhance its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and immunomodulatory properties. It is designed to dispel wind, eliminate dampness, warm the meridians, and relieve joint pain. Clinical research conducted by the developer indicates that the decoction can effectively reduce joint swelling, morning stiffness, and systemic inflammatory markers such as C-reactive protein (CRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) by modulating pro-inflammatory cytokine production and immune cell balance.
