Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jiawei Guizhi Jia Longgu Muli Tang is a modified Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) decoction derived from the classic 'Guizhi Jia Longgu Muli Tang' first recorded in the *Shanghan Lun* (Treatise on Febrile Diseases). The base formula consists of *Ramulus Cinnamomi* (Guizhi), *Radix Paeoniae Alba* (Baishao), *Fossilia Ossis Mastodi* (Dragon Bone), *Concha Ostreae* (Oyster Shell), *Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens* (Shengjiang), *Fructus Jujubae* (Dazao), and *Radix Glycyrrhizae* (Gancao). The 'Jiawei' designation indicates the addition of specific herbs—such as *Radix Bupleuri*, *Semen Ziziphi Spinosae*, or *Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae*—to tailor the treatment for conditions like refractory insomnia, generalized anxiety disorder, and male sexual dysfunction. Mechanistically, it is thought to regulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and modulate neurotransmitter systems, including GABAergic and serotonergic pathways, to restore autonomic balance and stabilize the 'Shen' (spirit).
