Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jiawei Huangqi Chifeng (加味黄芪赤风颗粒) is a traditional Chinese medicine formula developed as a modification of the classical Huangqi Chifeng Tang. It is composed of multiple herbal ingredients including raw Astragalus membranaceus (Huangqi), Paeoniae Radix Rubra (Chishao), Saposhnikovia divaricata (Fangfeng), Euryale ferox seeds (Qianshi), Rosa laevigata fruit (Jinyingzi), and others. The formula is primarily used for the treatment of immune-related kidney diseases such as IgA nephropathy and has also been reported in clinical cases for gastrointestinal disorders like fecal incontinence associated with spleen deficiency and middle qi sinking. Mechanistically, Jiawei Huangqi Chifeng has been shown to downregulate factors in the IL-17 signaling pathway, reduce blood stasis, and alleviate renal pathological damage in animal models of IgA nephropathy[1][2]. Its therapeutic actions are described as tonifying qi, invigorating the spleen, promoting blood circulation, removing stasis, dispelling wind-dampness, and consolidating essence.
