Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jiawei Shenling Baizhu San is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula, an enhanced version of the classic "Shenling Baizhu San." It consists of multiple herbal ingredients including ginseng (Ren Shen), atractylodes macrocephala (Bai Zhu), poria (Fu Ling), yam (Shan Yao), lotus seed (Lian Zi), coix seed (Yi Yi Ren), white hyacinth bean (Bai Bian Dou), licorice root (Gan Cao), platycodon root (Jie Geng), amomum fruit (Sha Ren), jujube date (Da Zao) and additional herbs such as acorus tatarinowii rhizome, cornus officinalis, peach kernel, safflower, earthworm and others depending on the specific modification[1][3]. The formula is primarily used to tonify the spleen and qi, resolve dampness, nourish blood and calm the mind. It is indicated for conditions such as spleen deficiency with dampness accumulation manifesting as chronic diarrhea or loose stools; it has also been used in TCM for gynecological disorders like delayed menstruation[3], neurological symptoms like tinnitus[1], Hashimoto's thyroiditis[7], chronic glomerulonephritis and depression[5]. Mechanistically, network pharmacology studies suggest that its active components may regulate targets involved in immune modulation and inflammation—such as AKT1 via PI3K-Akt signaling pathway—contributing to its effects across different diseases[5].
