Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jiawei Tianwang Buxin (加味天王补心) is an augmented or modified Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula derived from the classic "Tianwang Buxin Dan" (天王补心丹), also known as "Emperor of Heaven's Pill to Tonify the Heart." This multi-ingredient herbal preparation is traditionally used to address conditions arising from Yin deficiency and blood insufficiency, particularly affecting the heart and kidneys. Its primary indications include insomnia, palpitations, forgetfulness, anxiety, mental fatigue, nocturnal emission, dry stools, and mouth ulcers. While its traditional functions involve nourishing Yin, calming the Spirit, benefiting the Blood, and clearing Heat, modern research suggests it may exert sedative and tranquilizing effects through modulation of neurotransmitters, regulation of inflammatory factors, improvement of oxidative stress, and influence on circadian rhythms. It has also been studied for its potential effects on the HPA axis, GSK3β phosphorylation, and BDNF expression. As a modified formula, its exact composition can vary, but it typically builds upon the core ingredients of Tianwang Buxin Dan.
