Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jiawei Wuzi Yanzong Wan is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula, an enhanced version of the classic Wuzi Yanzong Wan. It is composed primarily of five herbal ingredients—Lycium barbarum (goji berry), Cuscuta chinensis (dodder seed), Schisandra chinensis (schisandra fruit), Rubus chingii (raspberry), and Plantago asiatica (plantain seed)—with additional herbs added according to specific clinical needs. The formula is traditionally used to tonify the kidney and replenish essence, with modern research supporting its use for male infertility, urinary disorders, neuroprotection, immune modulation, and as an adjunct in cognitive impairment such as mild cognitive impairment and potentially Alzheimer's disease. Mechanistically, Jiawei Wuzi Yanzong Wan has been shown to regulate immune function by modulating T lymphocyte networks and cytokine levels; exert antioxidant effects; protect neural tissue via multiple targets including Hippo signaling pathway components; inhibit Rho/ROCK signaling involved in neuroinflammation; improve sperm quality through antioxidative stress mechanisms; and promote neural stem cell proliferation and differentiation[1][3][4][5][6][8].
