Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jiawei Xionggui Decoction is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) polyherbal formula, a modified form of "Xiong Gui Decoction," used primarily for cognitive impairment and neurodegenerative disorders. Recent pharmacological studies have shown that this decoction promotes microglial phagocytosis, enhances meningeal lymphatic vessel clearance of β-amyloid, and alleviates cognitive deficits in disease models such as Alzheimer’s disease. Mechanistically, it acts by modulating energy metabolism in microglia via the TREM2 pathway and inhibiting the arachidonic acid metabolic pathway, thereby reducing neuroinflammation and facilitating β-amyloid clearance[5][6][3]. It is utilized in combination with or as an alternative to modern treatments, with preclinical data supporting its effect on neurodegenerative pathology but no current evidence for regulatory approval in any Western country.
