Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jiawei Yinchenhao Tang is a modified Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal decoction based on the classic Yinchenhao Tang formula. It is primarily developed and utilized by the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Hospital Affiliated to Zhejiang University Medical College for the treatment of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) and gestational hypercholanemia (elevated bile acids). The formula typically functions by clearing heat, resolving dampness, and promoting gallbladder function to reduce serum total bile acid (TBA) levels. In clinical practice, it is often evaluated as an adjuvant or alternative to ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) to improve maternal symptoms like pruritus and protect fetal outcomes by mitigating the risks associated with high bile acid concentrations.
