Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jiawei Yougui Wan (加味右归丸) is a modified version of the classical Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula "You Gui Wan" (Right-Return Pill). The base formula, created by Ming Dynasty physician Zhang Jiebin, is designed to warm and tonify kidney yang, replenish essence, and restore vitality. It typically addresses symptoms associated with kidney yang deficiency such as fatigue, cold limbs, lower back pain, infertility, impotence/erectile dysfunction in men, osteoporosis and general debility. The "Jiawei" or "modified" prefix indicates that additional herbs are included to tailor the formula for specific patient needs or patterns beyond those addressed by the original prescription. Mechanistically in TCM theory it acts by supplementing kidney yang and essence while nourishing blood and marrow; its effects are attributed to a synergistic blend of warming and nourishing herbs. Modern uses extend to supporting reproductive health and bone strength[4][6][7][8]. The exact composition of Jiawei Yougui Wan may vary depending on practitioner modification but always includes the core ingredients of classic You Gui Wan.
