Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jiawei Yueju Wan is a traditional Chinese medicine formula derived from the classical prescription Yueju Wan, which is used primarily to treat conditions related to liver qi stagnation and various types of "six stagnations" including qi, blood, phlegm, fire, dampness, and food retention. It is commonly applied in clinical practice for symptoms such as chest and hypochondriac fullness and pain, abdominal distension and pain, acid regurgitation, nausea, vomiting, poor digestion, chronic gastritis or enteritis, cholecystitis (gallbladder inflammation), intercostal neuralgia as well as gynecological disorders like dysmenorrhea and irregular menstruation associated with qi stagnation. The formula works by promoting the movement of qi to relieve stagnation and improve blood circulation. Pharmacologically it may increase brain serotonin (5-HT) and norepinephrine levels while reducing plasma cortisol levels; it also upregulates brain-derived neurotrophic factor expression in the hippocampus. Jiawei Yueju Wan has shown superior efficacy with fewer adverse effects compared to conventional Western antidepressants in treating depression including primary depression and post-stroke depression[2][3][4][5].
