Overview
Jiawei Yupingfeng is a traditional Chinese herbal formula widely used to treat respiratory tract illnesses. It is a modified version of the classic formula Yupingfeng San. The formula has demonstrated antiviral activity against influenza virus and human respiratory syncytial virus in vitro and in vivo. Its mechanism of action includes inhibiting viral entry into host cells and reducing the expression of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), which may decrease susceptibility to viral infection. Pre-treatment with Jiawei Yupingfeng has been shown to increase survival rates in lethal influenza-infected mice, prolong survival time, and alleviate virus-induced lung lesions[1][2][5]. In addition to its antiviral effects, it is believed to strengthen the body's defensive Qi according to traditional Chinese medicine theory[6].
