Jiedu Pingchan Decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by Longhua Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. It is part of a stage-based therapeutic strategy derived from the academic experience of Cheng Menxue and Ding's Internal Medicine. Specifically, Jiedu Pingchan is utilized during the middle to advanced stages of the disease, where "toxin" (Jie Du) is identified as a primary pathological factor according to TCM theory. It is typically administered as an oral decoction or granule formulation in combination with standard Western therapies, such as levodopa, to alleviate motor symptoms and improve patient quality of life.
