Overview
Jiedu Sangen Decoction is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula composed of three natural medicinal herbs. It has been widely used in China for over 50 years as an adjuvant therapy in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, particularly colorectal cancer (CRC). The decoction is known for its ability to inhibit tumor growth and metastasis by suppressing epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), reducing cell migration and invasion, and reversing chemoresistance to 5-fluorouracil. Mechanistically, it acts primarily through inhibition of the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway and modulation of EMT-related gene expression such as E-cadherin, N-cadherin, Slug, ZEB1. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that it can enhance apoptosis and repress proliferation in colon cancer cells[1][2][3][4][5].
