Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jiedu Xiaoying Tie (解毒消瘿贴) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) topical patch formulation developed for the treatment of Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Its name translates to "Toxin-Resolving and Goiter-Eliminating Patch," reflecting its therapeutic focus on neutralizing pathological "toxins" and reducing thyroid enlargement (goiter) within the TCM framework. The formulation is applied topically to the thyroid area to deliver herbal active ingredients transdermally. Clinical research, including multicenter randomized controlled trials conducted by institutions such as Shanghai Jing'an Zhabei Central Hospital, has evaluated its efficacy in patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis, particularly those with normal thyroid function, often in combination with lifestyle and dietary interventions like cereal fiber. Preclinical studies in rat models suggest that the patch works by modulating the immune system, reducing the levels of thyroid autoantibodies (such as TPOAb and TGAb), and decreasing pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNF-α and IL-6.
