Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jieyu Chufan (also known as Jieyu Chufan Capsules) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Yiling Pharmaceutical for the treatment of depression. It was approved by the China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in December 2021. The drug is indicated for mild to moderate depression, specifically targeting the TCM patterns of liver-qi stagnation and internal heat, which manifest as low mood, anxiety, and sleep disturbances. Jieyu Chufan is often utilized as an adjunctive therapy alongside Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) to enhance therapeutic response and reduce common antidepressant side effects. Ongoing Phase 4 clinical trials, such as the JOYS study, continue to evaluate its efficacy and safety in broader patient populations with moderate to severe major depressive disorder.
