Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jieyuguben is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula developed by Xiyuan Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, specifically indicated for Combined Allergic Rhinitis and Asthma Syndrome (CARAS). The formula is designed to treat the upper and lower airways as a single functional unit, addressing the shared inflammatory pathways of allergic rhinitis and bronchial asthma. Its pharmacological action is primarily characterized by the modulation of the immune system, specifically restoring the balance between Th1 and Th2 helper T cells. By inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-4 (IL-4), interleukin-5 (IL-5), and interleukin-13 (IL-13), and reducing serum levels of allergen-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE), Jieyuguben effectively suppresses airway hyperresponsiveness and nasal mucosal inflammation. It is typically administered as oral granules and has been evaluated in clinical research settings to improve lung function and quality of life in patients with comorbid allergic respiratory conditions.
