JIJUFEN

JIJUFEN (吉巨芬) is a recombinant human interleukin-11 (rhIL-11) developed and marketed by Hangzhou Jiuyuan Gene Engineering. Approved in China in 2003, it is indicated for the prevention and treatment of chemotherapy-induced thrombocytopenia (CIT). As a thrombopoietic growth factor, it stimulates the proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells and megakaryocyte progenitor cells and induces megakaryocyte maturation, thereby increasing platelet production. While some early pipeline listings may have incorrectly associated its mechanism with G-CSF or GM-CSF receptors and neutropenia, JIJUFEN specifically functions as a platelet-promoting agent through the interleukin-11 receptor pathway.
