Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jikinin C Series is a line of over-the-counter (OTC) multi-symptom cold remedies developed and marketed by Zenyaku Holdings (Zenyaku Kogyo) in Japan. The series is formulated as granules or powders and is indicated for the relief of various symptoms associated with the common cold, including fever, cough, sputum, sore throat, runny nose, and nasal congestion. The products typically contain a combination of active ingredients: acetaminophen (analgesic/antipyretic), dihydrocodeine phosphate (antitussive), dl-methylephedrine hydrochloride (bronchodilator), chlorpheniramine maleate (antihistamine), and anhydrous caffeine. A signature component of the Jikinin brand is the inclusion of licorice (Glycyrrhiza) extract, which provides anti-inflammatory and expectorant properties. The series includes the flagship Jikinin C and the newer Jikinin C First Neo CZ, the latter of which may also include tranexamic acid to address throat inflammation.
