Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jilin ginseng root is a specific variety of Panax ginseng cultivated in the Changbai Mountains of China, renowned for its high quality and medicinal value. It is traditionally used as a tonic to support spleen, kidney, adrenal, and lung functions, and as a general restorative for vital energy in the body and mind. The active compounds are primarily saponin triterpenoid glycosides (ginsenosides), which are believed to contribute to its adaptogenic effects—helping the body resist stress and maintain homeostasis[2][3][9]. Clinical studies suggest that supplementation with Jilin ginseng root can reduce muscle stiffness and fatigue after exercise, increase serum free fatty acids and glucose levels during exhaustive exercise, improve maximum oxygen consumption (VO2 max), enhance jump height and reactive strength index after drop jumps, and decrease knee/ankle stiffness associated with eccentric movement[1]. It is also noted for anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting MAPK/NF-κB signaling pathways[7].
