Overview

Jin Mai Tong (JMT) decoction is a traditional Chinese compound prescription consisting of 12 different herbal materials. It has been clinically used for over 20 years, primarily for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). Research indicates that JMT decoction exerts neuroprotective effects by ameliorating metabolic disorders, including those related to lipid metabolism, the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, and amino acid metabolism. Its therapeutic actions include improving mechanical pain thresholds, increasing intraepidermal and subepidermal nerve fiber densities, and promoting the renovation of demyelination and axonal atrophy in sciatic nerves.
