Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jincan granules is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Sichuan Academy of Chinese Medicine Sciences for the treatment of radiation-induced oral mucositis (RIOM). It is specifically indicated for patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma who develop oral mucosal injury following intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), particularly those presenting with the 'yin-deficiency heat-toxin' pattern according to TCM diagnostics. The granules are intended to alleviate the inflammatory and ulcerative symptoms caused by radiation, with or without concurrent chemotherapy. As a TCM product, its therapeutic effect likely involves multi-target anti-inflammatory and mucosal protective activities. It is currently being evaluated in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase IIa clinical trial in China.
