Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jinchai is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Institute of Chinese Materia Medica at the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of the common cold, specifically the wind-heat syndrome characterized by fever, headache, and sore throat. The drug is a combination product containing extracts from *Lonicera japonica* (Honeysuckle) and *Bupleurum chinense* (Thorowax root). Jinchai exhibits a multi-target pharmacological profile, including antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, and antiviral activities. It works by inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and potentially interfering with viral entry or replication. It was approved in China as a new Chinese medicine and is available in oral liquid and granule forms.
