Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jinfeng Pill is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula composed of nine herbal and animal-derived ingredients, including Epimedium brevicornu (Yinyanghuo), Cervus elaphus antler (Lurong), Panax ginseng (Renshen), donkey-hide gelatin (Ejiao), Ligustrum lucidum seed (Nüzhenzi), Reynoutria multiflora/Polygonum multiflorum root (Heshouwu), Curculigo orchioides rhizome (Xianmao), Neolitsea cassia bark (Rougui/Cinnamomum cassia), and Leonurus japonicus herb (Yimucao/motherwort)[6][9][5]. It is manufactured as concentrated water-honeyed pills. The formula is used clinically to regulate the menstrual cycle, induce ovulation, improve ovarian function, and treat female infertility associated with conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)[1][2][7], thin endometrial infertility[5], premature ovarian insufficiency[6], and poor ovarian response[10]. Mechanistically, it appears to increase ovarian blood flow, modulate hormone levels—including lowering follicle-stimulating hormone and testosterone while increasing estradiol—and promote follicular development. Its effects are attributed to both direct action on the ovaries and modulation via the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis[3][10]. The pill also exhibits properties such as improving immunity, anti-aging effects, antioxidant activity, hypoglycemic action, lipid-lowering effects[9], promoting blood circulation to remove stasis, supplementing qi and nourishing yin.
