Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jinfukang is a traditional Chinese medicine formula composed of a mixture of 12 Chinese herbs, with *Astragalus membranaceus* as a key component. It has been widely used in China for over ten years for the prevention and treatment of lung cancer, particularly non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Jinfukang is approved by the China Food and Drug Administration for use against NSCLC. Its mechanisms include inhibition of tumor growth, suppression of tumor metastasis, regulation of cellular immunity, induction of apoptosis via activation of Fas and caspase pathways, cell cycle arrest (notably G1 phase), and modulation through ROS-mediated DNA damage response involving p53 and p21 upregulation. Preclinical studies show that it can synergize with chemotherapy agents like cisplatin to enhance anti-tumor effects. Clinical evidence suggests benefits in improving survival when combined with platinum-based chemotherapy.
