Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jing Yin Qing Hua Fang is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula developed by the Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19, particularly effective against the Omicron variant. The formula is designed to clear heat, resolve toxicity, and transform dampness, addressing the clinical manifestations of damp-heat syndrome. It consists of a specific blend of herbs including Schizonepeta tenuifolia, Lonicera japonica, and Forsythia suspensa. Pharmacological research suggests that the formula exerts its effects through a multi-target approach, including the suppression of pro-inflammatory cytokines like IL-6 and TNF-α, thereby preventing the progression of the cytokine storm, and potentially inhibiting viral replication. It was authorized as a hospital preparation in Beijing to support the clinical management of the pandemic.
