Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jingfanghuopujiedu mixture (also known as Xinguan No. 3) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Sichuan Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine) for the treatment of COVID-19. It is formulated based on the modification of Jingfang Baidu Powder (荆防败毒散) and Huopu Xiaoling Decoction (藿朴夏苓汤) to target the 'wind-cold with dampness' syndrome (风寒夹湿证) of respiratory infections. During the COVID-19 outbreak in early 2020, it was approved under emergency procedures in Sichuan Province, China, and temporarily covered by medical insurance for use in designated COVID-19 treatment hospitals. Clinical trials, including real-world studies, have evaluated its efficacy and safety in improving clinical symptoms and reducing fever in patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19.
