Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jingui Shenqi pill is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula primarily used to treat kidney yang deficiency syndrome. Originating from the classic text *Jingui Yaolue* (Synopsis of Prescriptions of the Golden Chamber) by Zhang Zhongjing, the formula is designed to warm and tonify the kidney yang, promote qi transformation, and regulate water metabolism. It is commonly indicated for symptoms such as lower back pain, coldness in the lower body, edema, and urinary disturbances, including nocturia and polyuria. The standard composition in the Chinese Pharmacopeia includes ten herbal ingredients: Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, Corni Fructus, Dioscoreae Rhizoma, Poria, Alismatis Rhizoma, Moutan Cortex, Cinnamomi Cortex, Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, Plantaginis Semen, and Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix. Clinical research, including Phase 4 trials, has evaluated its efficacy in managing frequent nocturia in elderly patients with TCM-defined kidney yang deficiency.
