Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jingzhi Niuhuang Jiedu Tablets (Refined Bezoar Detoxifying Tablets) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation primarily used for its heat-clearing and detoxifying properties. It is a refined version of the classic Niuhuang Jiedu formula, typically composed of eight ingredients: artificial cow-bezoar (Calculus Bovis Artificialis), realgar, gypsum, rhubarb, scutellaria, platycodon, borneol, and licorice. The "refined" (Jingzhi) designation often refers to specific manufacturing processes or concentrated extracts intended to enhance efficacy or reduce toxicity compared to standard versions. Clinically, it is indicated for "interior heat" syndromes manifesting as sore throat, mouth ulcers, and gingival swelling. Recent clinical investigations, including a trial sponsored by Dongfang Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (ChiCTR2500105750), have explored its use as an adjunct to oseltamivir for treating influenza A virus infection, specifically to accelerate fever resolution and alleviate symptoms associated with the "exterior cold and interior heat" syndrome.
