Overview
Jinhuang Gel is a topical Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Jiangsu Kanion Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. for the treatment of acute soft tissue injuries, such as ankle sprains. It is a modern gel adaptation of the classic "Ruyi Jinhuang San" formula, which is traditionally used to clear heat, resolve toxins, and reduce swelling. The formulation contains extracts from ten herbal components, including *Curcumae Longae Rhizoma* (Turmeric), *Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex*, and *Rhei Rhizoma*. Pharmacologically, Jinhuang Gel exhibits anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties by inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines (e.g., TNF-alpha, IL-1beta) and enzymes (e.g., COX-2), thereby alleviating local pain and edema. It is currently in Phase III clinical development in China for indications involving "toxic heat" and "blood stasis" patterns in acute injuries.
