Overview
Jinlong capsule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation primarily composed of animal-derived ingredients, specifically the freeze-dried powder of three types of snakes: *Bungarus multicinctus* (many-banded krait), *Agkistrodon acutus* (long-nosed pit viper), and *Naja naja* (cobra). It was originally developed and is widely used in China as an adjuvant therapy for various malignancies, including primary liver cancer, due to its purported anti-tumor and immunomodulatory properties. In the context of HIV/AIDS research, it is evaluated for its ability to stabilize or increase CD4+ T-lymphocyte counts and improve the immune function of asymptomatic HIV-infected individuals. The mechanism is thought to involve the regulation of the immune system and potential inhibition of viral replication, though it is typically used as part of a syndrome-differentiated treatment approach in TCM.
