Overview
Jinmai (JM) is a proprietary Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) botanical formula developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and prediabetes. The formula consists of a specific combination of extracts from four herbs: *Coptidis Rhizoma* (CAL component), *Astragali Radix* (CAL component), *Lonicerae Japonicae Flos* (CAL component), and *Ophiopogonis Radix* (Oph). Mechanistically, Jinmai acts as an insulin secretagogue, stimulating insulin secretion from pancreatic beta-cells, while also improving insulin resistance. Research suggests it modulates the gut microbiota and regulates the expression of genetic information (RNA and microRNA) involved in energy metabolism and inflammatory pathways. It is currently being evaluated in randomized controlled trials to assess its efficacy in reducing glycemic excursion and its long-term impact on metabolic health.
