Overview
Jinmaitong (JMT) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula developed by the Peking Union Medical College Hospital for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). It is typically administered as a capsule or granule and is composed of several herbal ingredients, including *Astragalus membranaceus*, *Salvia miltiorrhiza*, *Scrophularia ningpoensis*, and *Paeonia lactiflora*. The formula is designed to improve nerve conduction velocity, alleviate neuropathic pain, and promote nerve repair and regeneration. Its mechanism of action involves reducing oxidative stress, inhibiting the formation of advanced glycation end-products (AGEs), and improving microcirculation in the peripheral nerves. Clinical studies have demonstrated its potential to enhance peripheral nerve blood flow and support the structural integrity of nerve fibers in diabetic patients.
