Overview
Jinqi Jiangtang capsule is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula approved in China for the treatment of mild-to-moderate type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). It is composed of three herbal ingredients: Coptis chinensis (Coptis Rhizome), Astragalus membranaceus (Astragalus Root), and Lonicera japonica (Honeysuckle Flower). Originally developed as a tablet by the Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and later licensed to Tianjin Pharmaceutical Da Ren Tang Group, the formulation has been adapted into capsule form by developers such as Zhejiang Tianyitang Pharmaceutical. Jinqi Jiangtang capsule works by clearing heat and replenishing qi, improving insulin sensitivity, promoting insulin secretion, and regulating glucose and lipid metabolism, primarily through the activation of the AMPK signaling pathway and the FGFR1 signaling pathway.
