Overview
Jinwei Guben Formula (JWGB), also known as Jinwei Formula II, is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula clinically utilized for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Research indicates that JWGB modulates the formation of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), which are known to drive chronic inflammation in the airways. Furthermore, the formula enhances the efficacy of glucocorticoids, addressing the steroid resistance often observed in COPD patients. This therapeutic effect is mediated through the regulation of Histone Deacetylase 2 (HDAC2), an enzyme critical for the anti-inflammatory action of corticosteroids that is typically impaired in oxidative stress environments associated with lung disease.
