Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jinyouping (LY03003) is an extended-release microsphere formulation of rotigotine, a non-ergoline dopamine receptor agonist, developed by Luye Pharma Group. Utilizing a novel drug delivery system (NDDS), the drug is designed to provide continuous and stable release of rotigotine over a seven-day period following a single intramuscular injection. This weekly dosing regimen aims to overcome the limitations of daily transdermal patches or oral medications, such as skin irritation or fluctuating plasma concentrations, thereby improving patient compliance and providing more consistent stimulation of dopamine receptors. Rotigotine acts as a potent agonist at D1, D2, and D3 receptors, which are critical in the management of motor symptoms in Parkinson's disease. Jinyouping was approved by the China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in May 2024, making it the first long-acting microsphere formulation of rotigotine approved globally.
